The Board of The Kingston Prize Association and the Jury, are delighted to announce the names of the thirty finalists in the 2023 competition. We congratulate each of them, and thank all the outstanding Canadian artists who submitted their works this year. With nearly 350 entries from across Canada, The Kingston Prize Competition is a truly national event.

The 2023 Kingston Prize exhibition showcasing the finalists’ portraits will be held from October 6 – October 28, 2023 at the Firehall Theatre, Gananoque, Ontario. The Kingston Prize of $20,000, and two Honourable Mention Awards of $2,000 each, will be awarded during a reception at the Firehall Theatre on October 13, 2023.

The Board also thanks the 2023 competition jury whose members are:
Alicia Boutilier, Chief Curator and Curator of Canadian Historical Art at The Agnes Etherington Art Gallery at Queen’s University;
Annie Gérin, Dean of Concordia’s Faculty of Fine Arts; and
Gordon Shadrach, well-established Canadian Artist and Assistant Professor at OCADU.
