Title: Captain Generous
Media: Watercolour and coloured pencil on illustration board
Dimensions: 38 x 40.5 cm

Gregory Brenhouse (also called Captain Generous by many) is my true blue friend who I’ve laughed with for the last bunch of years. We go on juicy adventures together across the USA and BC every summer. This shot was from our last trip, as we walked a road somewhere between California and Oregon. The portrait is intended to reference the genre of photorealism in a soulful and intuitive fashion. I love Gregory so much and the duration of the process of creating this piece is a testament to that. Additionally, I adore Greg’s facial structure and am fascinated by the myriad of pigments and textures in his hair and skin. I have attempted to match every single color and value I observed in the reference image.
