ARTIST STATEMENT
People are complex with many different, sometimes contradictory, qualities within a single personality. This painting tries to examine that idea. Suzanne Carte is the senior curator at the Art Gallery of Burlington. She has an MA in Contemporary Art History from Sotheby’s Art Institute and a BFA from the University of Windsor. Throughout her career, Carte has curated exhibitions in artist-run centres, commercial and public galleries. She is also a champion Muay Thai fighter, with many title belts to her credit. We are all more then what is seen on first glance.
