Biography
I was born in Sokolac in Republic of Srpska (then former Yugoslavia). I obtained a BA degree in psychology at the University of Belgrade and worked as a psychologist for more than ten years. I am a self- taught artist and I started painting with more dedication after moving to Canada in 1999. In Serbia I had several solo and group exhibitions. In 2006 and 2013 I had exhibitions in Kitchener City Hall. In 2007 I participated in the independent artists’ show – Toronto Art Expo. In 2008 my portrait ”Masa With Violin” was selected for The Top Finalist Show organized by the Portrait Society of Canada, of which I am a member. My painting “Twelve” was finalist in the figurative category at the International ARC Salon 2012 and is included in their catalogue. The same painting was a finalist in the Kingston Prize national portraiture competition in 2013. I participate in competitions very rarely since I don’t agree with most of their concepts, the criteria they follow, and the decisions of their jurors. My paintings were published in Magazine Art and Grand Magazine and featured on Rogers and Leaf’s TV. Lately I have been working on a new project – art installations that include my paintings. That enables me to communicate with the public/society in a new and more interactive and “up to date” manner.
