ARTIST STATEMENT
This portrait depicts my great-aunt, Roma Rideout, a 93-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Throughout her life, she has exemplified resilience and compassion, facing hardship with quiet strength and generosity of spirit. My intention was to create an honest representation—embracing the wrinkles, age spots, and subtle traces of time that reflect a life lived. Roma’s kindness has left a lasting impression on all who know her, and it was a privilege to honor her through this work
