ARTIST STATEMENT
I create Indigenous-themed portraits grounded in reference photos, painting in acrylic and layering pencil to refine detail and texture. My process balances gesture and control, realism and subtle abstraction. I aim to express presence—capturing strength and complexity through quiet observation—reflecting the tension between tradition and contemporary Indigenous experience.

I’m an Ojibwe artist from Seine River First Nation, currently based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I specialize in portraiture that centers Indigenous identity and visual clarity. Having lived in both Canada and Minnesota, I bring a cross-cultural perspective to my work. My portraits are focused, intentional, and grounded in presence over narrative.
