ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Carlos Fentanes, Mexico-Canadian (b. 1968, Mexico City) works around grief, displacement, democratic collapse, and algorithmic bias and AI. Working across drawing, writing, and digital media, his practice examines how censorship operates—from Instagram’s community guidelines suppressing figurative work to immigration systems separating families to the medical establishment’s inability to address chronic illness. Recent projects include Conversations with Virgin Mary (2024–25), a hybrid memoir-fiction exploring attention, ritual, and institutional failure through the lens of his mother’s Parkinson’s diagnosis. Fentanes has exhibited at NADA (New Art Dealers Alliance), the MAM Museo de Arte Moderno (Mexico City), and venues across three continents. His work is held in private collections internationally.
