Portraiture has been a constant in my painting practice. ‘Inez’ is the first piece in a new body of work which explores identity and shifting gender roles in an evolving digital landscape. Working from images taken by the subject (selfies), this body of work explores ideas of how we see ourselves and how we want to be seen, often on a screen. The works are intimate, exposing vulnerability, while at the same time confronting the viewer.
